Latvia’s retail sector recorded solid growth in July 2026, reflecting stronger consumer demand across food, non-food products and automotive fuel.

Compared with July 2025, total retail trade turnover increased by 7.0% at constant prices after adjusting for calendar effects.

Retail sales of food products grew by 2.6%, while turnover from non-food products, excluding automotive fuel, increased by 9.6%. Sales of automotive fuel also recorded strong growth, rising by 8.2% compared with the same month last year.

Construction and Online Retail Lead Growth

Among the different retail categories, the strongest annual growth was recorded in several key sectors.

Retail sales of hardware, tools, construction materials and sanitary equipment increased by 17.3%, marking the largest rise among the categories measured.

Retail sales through mail-order houses and online stores also performed strongly, growing by 14.8%. Meanwhile, retail sales of information and communication equipment in specialised stores increased by 10.4%.

At current prices, total retail trade turnover rose by 7.5% compared with July 2025, without adjusting for calendar effects.

Retail Sales Rise From June

The sector also recorded month-on-month growth. According to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices, total retail trade turnover increased by 2.5% in July compared with June 2026.

Food retail sales edged up by 0.1%, while non-food retail sales excluding automotive fuel increased by 2.6%.

Automotive fuel recorded the strongest monthly growth, with turnover rising by 6.7% compared with June.

The latest figures indicate continued momentum in Latvia’s retail sector, with online shopping, construction-related goods and specialised technology retail among the strongest-performing areas in July.
