John Isner has been keeping statisticians busy his entire career and this week has been no different. On Friday, during his third round defeat to Jannik Sinner, the American set a world record for aces struck. That tally is now at 13,748 and counting.

The American, who famously hammered down 113 in a single match when he beat Nicolas Mahut over three days here in 2011, served 54 aces during his first round win over Frenchman Enzo Couacaud, and another 36 while beating Andy Murray on Wednesday.

On Day 5 he needed just four more to match Ivo Karlovic’s total of 13,728. The 37-year-old former Wimbledon semi-finalist managed another 24 against the young Italian but will now have to wait another 12 months to add to his Wimbledon total.
