Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City returned to the top of the Premier League, ahead of Liverpool with four matches to play, courtesy of a 4-0 victory at Leeds United, with Phil Foden providing two assists.
Rodri’s glanced header from a Foden free-kick gave City a 13th-minute lead.
Nathan Ake added their second, reacting quickest to poke in Ruben Dias’ knockdown shortly after half-time.
Leeds responded well but the next goal was Manchester City’s, as Gabriel Jesus, fed by Foden, beat the offside trap to slot in his fifth goal in two matches.
Fernandinho crowned a third straight league victory with the fourth from range in stoppage time.
Manchester City have 83 points, one more than Liverpool.
Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola on Premier League match against Leeds United ,he said ,”We knew coming here the way they play, we suffered a lot in the first half. But in the end we had control and could have scored more. An incredible result for us.
They are so fast up front. Today was so important to make our chances to be champions again.
We defended well and sometimes these type of games set-pieces become so important. With Nathan Ake on the pitch, we are so strong.
What a game Laporte played, he is doing an incredible season. We have five games to go, potentially six until the end of the season.
I prefer to feel less pressure than I am feeling. It is a long season and this is the last effort.
Always we will play later. Right now it’s not too complicated, they are going to win their games. We know exactly what we need to do – win our games. Still it is a privilege and an honour to try win back to back four Premier League’s in five years.”
